Real wedding

Childhood dreams met springtime joy as Georgia and Harry brought their vibrant floral vision to life in a fairytale wedding at Ashridge House.

Please can you tell us a bit about yourselves – where you're from, how you met, etc.?

The couple met through mutual friends at Kings Langley Cricket Club, where Harry has played since he was young. Following their engagement, Georgia knew straight away that she wanted to get married at Ashridge House. “It felt like home for both of us, having grown up in the area,” she explains.

Please can you tell us a bit about the venue and location – Why did you choose Ashridge House?

“As a girl, I had always dreamt about what my wedding day might look like, and of course, I pictured that fairytale image with a princess feel – and I can honestly say Ashridge House made me feel exactly so. The venue is so special with its grand architecture, secret doors, winding staircases, and elegant gardens. I really did feel like a princess for the day. It's a feeling I’ll never forget,” says Georgia.

Did your wedding have a theme / colour scheme? Please tell us about the overall aesthetic, inspiration, and flowers.

The couple loves colour and wanted to channel a sense of ‘springtime vibrancy’ as the wedding took place in May. They selected a cheerful floral palette of red, pink, lilac, and white blooms. They decided to let the statement staircase in Ashridge House’s Grand Hall speak for itself, with their decorator simply adding some twinkly fairy lights for a romantic finish.

Please can you tell us about the highlights and any standout memories from your wedding day?

Georgia says: “We always find it hard when people ask us ‘What were your highlights?’ because it’s too hard to pick just one or two. Walking down the aisle and seeing Harry standing there, waiting for me, was magical. I was so emotional walking down the aisle but managed to pull it together for the rest of our wedding day.

It was surreal seeing our vision come to life after we’d been working on the wedding for a year and a half. It was such a special sight to see all our loved ones under the magnificent roof that is Ashridge House!”

She concludes, “Other big moments include our phenomenal magician, who had everyone gasping throughout the wedding breakfast. The band had us dancing all night on the star-lit dance floor, and we had breathtaking fireworks at the end of the night, which was a surprise to our entire wedding party.”
